Kaye Cooper
Kaye Cooper describes her life purpose this way: “In the
early 80’s I gave considerable thought to what I wanted to do with the
rest of my life. Every problem I could identify in our world—whether it
was economic, social, or political—always seemed to come back to one
thing—the solution was spiritual! So I decided I would get to the root
of things: I dedicated myself to helping people draw nearer to God.”
For many years she has led
adult workshops and spiritual support groups. In the 1970’s and 80’s she
and her husband Bill initiated, wrote for, and edited The Circles, a
quarterly magazine for Urantia Book readers that focused on living the
spiritual life in the material world.
In 1990 they published
Friendship with God. As Kaye describes it, Friendship with God contains
“the information I needed when I was in my teens and 20’s struggling
with why my perfectly good prayers weren’t answered!” In 1988 she and
Bill established “Adventures in Spiritual Living,” a non-profit
organization that has created and led spiritual retreats throughout the
US and in Canada.
In the early 21st century,
she worked for a non-profit training people to lead groups for parents
and teachers that teach them how to treat children so that the children
grow up with healthy self-esteem. In the last year, she and her close
friend (and fellow member of Adventures), Sharon Lanier, have been
collaborating on an extraordinary breakthrough in living out one’s
spiritual ideals. They call it “Joyful Living.”
Sharon Lanier
Sharon has been a "spiritual seeker" for all of her life.
She grew up in a deeply religious and spiritual family. Church was a
natural thing for her three times a week. However, when she was 16 she
had a spiritual experience and knew that her life's path would be
different than her parents.
At 24 she found the Urantia Book and says
that the "heart doors over my spirit" opened up. The Urantia Book has
given her the foundation for her life ever since. Sharon and her
husband Ted joined with Kaye and Bill Cooper's Adventures in Spiritual
Living. What a life changing experience!
After the stresses and strains of living on
this material planet, Sharon began to search for answers to aleviate the
"emotional issues" that we all have. After researching and trying
different methods, she found some ways and spiritual answers to give her
peace of mind to the material emotions that bombard us all. She began
studying and working with the "spiritual values" and found great
satisfaction, comfort and fulfillment in her life. Her life turned
around for her.
When her friend, Kaye Cooper called with a
serious issue she was having, Sharon shared some of these techniques
with her. It made such a profound shift and difference in Kaye's life
that she wanted to know more. After a few months Kaye and Sharon
started working together and they came up with the wonderful,
breathtaking material that they know as "Joyful Living."
“We are so excited about what we are doing
and how these wonderful tools and techniques have allowed us to grow
beyond what we ever thought was possible. We sincerely want to share
‘Joyful Living’ with others”.
Sheila Keene-Lund is
the author of Heaven Is Not the
Last Stop, the first book to weave together principles at the
cutting edge of today’s metaphysics, theology, and cosmology with the
incomparable teachings of The Urantia Book. Born in Spain to an English
father and Puerto Rican mother, Sheila has served as a Transcendental
Meditation teacher, a deaconess in the Liberal Catholic Church, and as a
hospice worker who developed workshops on spiritual care for those
facing death and their caregivers. She is currently Education Committee
Chair of Urantia Association International and vice president of the
Urantia Association of Florida.
